Dr. Jörg Oberste Berghaus

Dr. Jörg Oberste Berghaus obtained his Ph.D. from McGill University in 2001 in the field of thermal plasma chemical vapor deposition. In 2003, he joined the National Research Council of Canada where he worked in thermal spray technologies for the aerospace, energy, and biomedical sectors and pioneered suspension plasma and suspension HVOF spraying.


In 2008, Jörg joined Soleras Advanced Coatings in Belgium where he led the product development for large-area magnetron sputter solutions for flexible electronics, low-e-glass, thin film batteries, photovoltaics, and protective anti-reflect cover-glass coatings for mobile devices.


Jörg is now back at the National Research Council of Canada as the Senior Research Officer and Technical Leader for Surface Engineering and Protection Means for Harsh Environments. He focuses on industrial hard-chrome replacement and next-generation turbine coating projects.
